How To Manufacture Toilet Papers?

Toilet papers follow a long way to our bathrooms. They are processed in many steps to be shaped as tissue from trees. How you can manufacture these essential products?

Like any other types of paper, toilet papers are also based on trees. The first step to make a paper is to prepare the pulp. To prepare the pulp, softwood, and hardwood trees are stripped of their bark with machines to leave as much wood as possible. After stripping the wood, bare log passes through machines to cut into small pieces and then separated into batches. These steps create little wood chip batches to make the material easier to process. The wood chips are cooked in a mixture of chemicals for a few hours then the moist is evaporated and the mass is reduced to cellulose fibres, lignin and other substances, and the pulp is ready.

Once our pulp for the toilet papers are ready, it goes through a multistage washer system that removes most of the lignin and the cooking chemicals. This fluid, called black liquor, is separated from the pulp. Then The washed pulp is sent to the bleach plant where a multistage chemical process removes the color from the fibre. Because residual lignin, the adhesive that binds fibres yellow the pulp over time and must be bleached to make the paper white. The pulp is mixed with water again to produce paper stock, a mixture that is 99,5% water and 0,5% fibre. The paper stock is sprayed between moving mesh screens to allow much of the water to drain. This produces a 5,5m wide sheet of matted fibre at a rate of up to 1981m per minute.

Now that we have got the paper we need for our finished product: toilet paper. It is time to prepare the little rolls. First, the paper is creped, this makes it very soft and gives it a wrinkled look. During creping, the paper is scraped off dryer with a metal blade. This process makes the sheets flexible but lowers their strength and thickness so that toilet papers virtually disintegrate when wet. The paper is then wound on jumbo rolls. After that, the paper is loaded onto converting machines that unwind, slit, and rewind it onto long thin cardboard tubing, making a paper log. The paper logs are then cut into rolls.

Getting Toilet Papers Ready for Consumers

The manufacturing process of toilet papers is done. Now it is time to package the rolls and distribute them. The packages can include 4- 6-16-24-32 or more toilet paper rolls in each, and they can be distributed all around the world.
