According to 2014 data, about 35% of all tissue sold internationally is delivered as parent rolls, which can be transported longer distances than the main part of converted tissue products.

The top 10 parent roll exporters account for around 68% of the global total. Italy and Indonesia were listed to be the two largest suppliers in 2014. Western Europe was responsible for 63% of its total exports and Eastern Europe for 31%, leaving only 6% for deliveries into other regions. 

Based on RISI 2014 report on parent rolls, China and Turkey were the third-and-fourth-largest tissue parent roll exporters. The United Kingdom and Israel are the two most important trading partners for Turkey.
